Layered Pink Cakes

Layered Pink Cakes

This is a great easy recipe if you don’t have much time but want to make it look like it takes a lot of effort. You can use any colour, just make sure you adjust each cake slightly with the amount of colouring used so the effect of the layers looks different. Enjoy. This recipe makes 12.

Ingredients;

3 store brought vanilla cake mixes

1 tub ready made vanilla frosting

Red food colouring

Prepare cake mixes as per packet. However colour each mix with the red food colouring before baking. Place 2 drops of colouring in one batch, 4 drops of colouring in the second batch and 8 drops of colouring in the third batch. This will allow each cake to look slightly different in colour. Once cooked allow cakes to cool completely before the next step.

Mix one drop of food colouring into the ready made icing to give it a shade slightly less than that of all the cakes. Cut 12 rounds out of each cake. Place a round of the darkest cake first, spread it with a small amount of frosting, place the next round of cake the medium colour, then spread again with a small amount of frosting and top with the final round of cake, the lightest in colour. Finish off with a greater amount of frosting, I piped mine on so that it gives each cake even more height. Repeat this process until you have 12 small but tall layered cakes.
